How do air conditioners produce so much water?
Q. I have one of those large single-room air conditioners because my air conditioner system just doesn't cut it, and it's linked to the outside by a hose, so I have to empty the water when it gets full. How does it manage to produce about 5 pounds of water in just a few hours? Thanks for your answers!

A. You must have a large amount of water vapor in your air. An air conditioner works by sucking the air out of your room and then running it through it's insides. When this happens, all of the humidity in the air is removed, which creates the water. The air is then run through the compressor where the air is.. well.. compressed which makes it colder, and therefore cold and dry air is blown back into your room making the room nice and cool and confortable. Naturally, the more water vapor that is in the air, the more water vapor that is going to be removed and turned into water.
