An air cooler is any device for cooling the air inside a building, room, or vehicle. . Air coolers are used in thermally insulated casings to form refrigerators and are also used in buildings to cool rooms. In buildings they are only required when the building itself is not constructed so that it is able to dissipate enough heat. Methods to construct buildings in such a fashion that additional air coolers are not required are eg Earth sheltering or specific building designs . DevicesAn absorption air cooler.Several devices exist, these include:

Is it too humid for this? Q. I have an evaporative air cooler on top of my house along with a regular air conditioner and it drips water, outside, when it's cooling the house down. But right now it is raining hard and lightening near my city so I turned the regular air conditioner off. Does anyone know if it is okay to run the evaporative air cooler, or will this make the house more humid (I have never used the evaporative air cooler before)? Asked by butterfly - Thu Jul 10 23:40:34 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Which drips? Evap (Swamp coolers) are maybe 3 times more efficient in dry climates than refrigerated AC. In the driest climate sole use of a swamp cooler will not bring inside humidity much above 50%...It will decrease in efficiency as the outside humidity increases but will never exceed more than about 25% over outside humidity inside if proper airflow is maintained. If your evap cooler drips then yer float level is not set correctly. A properly sized and maintained evap cooler will reduce the temperature inside your house by 30 degrees when outside humidity is below 35% and your airflow is correctly managed. Depending on size and speed of the fan yer evap cooler pushes X ammount of cubic feet of air per min thru yer house. I don't know much about air plane engine, but yesterday I saw something about liquid cooler engine. Any other cooler is available and what's the difference? At the high altitude the temperature is cold, why cooler is still needed for air plane engine? Asked by GiGi - Sun Apr 27 00:45:20 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. To answer you question correctly you have to understand aircraft engines and automotive engines are totally different. First automotive engine are designed to operate at below 212-degree temperature and are not designed to operate at full rated horsepower rating. On the other hand aircraft piston engines operate up to a max temperature in most case of 245 degrees. The reason is the tolerance is larger for aircraft engines because of the heat expansion of metal parts. It s important to know aircraft engines are designed to run at full power setting with no problems (don t try this with an automotive engine). Aircraft and automotive engines are both 4-cycle and work on the same principles. Aircraft engine burn a much higher octane fuel… [cont.] Answered by stacheair - Sun Apr 27 11:55:59 2008 How exactly does an air - cooler work?
Q. I mean the one in which we fill in water!...I am just curious... Asked by Spooky - Version 0.2? - Fri May 16 11:53:20 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. horsinround2do has well explained the working of air cooler. I shall just add few points. As explained therein, it works well only in dry climate where the humidity is less. Water can evaporate and try to saturate the relatively dry air. Drier the air more will be evaporation of water. Water that evaporates needs huge amount of heat for vaporization as the latent heat of vaporization of water is quite high of the order of 540 calories per gram. This heat comes from the rest of water molecules and air in contact with it. For providing 540 calories per g of water evaporated, 54 g of water will have to cool down by 10 degrees celcius and so will air in contact with it. Ths is how the cooling takes place in air cooler.
